LUCID is the German Verpackungsregister. If you sell into Germany and use shipping packaging — even as a small shop or side hustle — you're legally required to register and report your annual packaging volumes. PackMate captures the data automatically and exports it from the Pro plan onwards in LUCID format.
Yes, as soon as you put packaged goods into circulation in Germany. Company size doesn't matter. The only exception: you don't sell into Germany at all.

Yes — that's a separate obligation. You need to sign up with one of the duales-System providers (Der Grüne Punkt, BellandVision, Interseroh, Reclay, Veolia). PackMate captures the volumes; you submit them to LUCID and your duales System.
System tariffs for DHL, DPD and GLS are pre-loaded on every tier. DHL labels are generated directly from PackMate (every tier from Free upwards). Custom rate tables for any carrier (UPS, FedEx, USPS, etc.) can be added on every tier. Live carrier API for real-time rates lands in 2026 as a free update for Premium customers.
On average $0.30–$0.80 per order through Multi-Package-Split and optimal box choice. At 1,000 orders/month that's $300–$800 in savings. The Pro plan ($19) often pays for itself within 60–100 orders. Concrete numbers show up in your analytics dashboard.
Yes, on every tier. PackMate has a carrier-agnostic rate table — enter any carrier's rates with dimensions, weight, and price columns.
If your order doesn't fit into a single box, PackMate proposes splitting it across multiple packages — and compares shipping cost. Example: 1× XL box ($12.50) vs. 2× M box ($9.80). PackMate picks the cheaper option automatically. Most other pack apps can't do this.
Yes — up to 200 cm per edge and 70 kg per package. Multi-Package-Split optimises for large orders too. Pallets are not supported in self-serve tiers — talk to us for a custom plan.
Pack calculations are blocked until the next month or until you upgrade — order tracking continues either way. Cap-hit orders can be reconciled later once you upgrade (Pro+ has Bulk-Reconciliation). Pack history stays fully readable.
Free is a full demo — you should feel PackMate's power before you commit. Basic is a volume-bump plan for shops that need more orders quickly but don't yet need the Pro features (LUCID, AI, Multi-Package-Split). If you need every feature, you go straight to Pro.
From Pro onwards: PackMate runs an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server. Your own AI assistant (Claude.ai, ChatGPT, etc.) can manage boxes and request pack recommendations. You bring your own AI subscription — we don't host AI inference, so there are no extra AI costs from us.

No. Your data is yours. Nothing goes to third parties (no carriers, no marketing partners). Two exceptions: Shopify (for billing) and LUCID / your duales System — when you use the CSV export, you submit the data to LUCID yourself.
Yes — uninstall Boxify, install PackMate. Box configurations need to be recreated (about 5 minutes thanks to our default templates), product dimensions come automatically from Shopify, shipping rates are live immediately via system tariffs.
Yes. You can define special conditions per product (fragile, this-side-up, refrigerated). PackMate respects them in the pack layout. For more complex constraints (Hazmat, ADR) — talk to us.
In self-serve tiers, PackMate is one account per Shopify shop. If you run multiple shops and want one account for all of them — talk to us for a custom plan with multi-shop support.
PackMate uses Shopify auth — anyone with a Shopify staff account on your shop can access PackMate. Granular user roles (e.g. "packer can only pack, not change settings") aren't supported in self-serve tiers — talk to us if you need this as a custom feature.
